I have just begun my new obsession (incubating eggs) and have read about moving eggs to a hatcher....can someone please educate me as to
1)why the eggs get moved
2) is the hatcher just another incubator Genesis 1588 without a turner?
3) anything else about the process...
I have my Genesis 1588 w/ auto turner running now with 24 duck eggs in it and tomorrow (day 8) will add chicken eggs, so that on day 28 (ducks) they will all be about ready to hatch (day 21 for chicks.) How should I proceed?
Any info is much appreciated

A hatcher is the same thing as the incubator without the turner your correct...it's just another bator used to finish the hatch with so the first incubator doesn't get as messy if you have staggered hatches....I don't use one...I never stagger a hatch and I have two incubators going all the time at the moment...

I've never hatched ducks...not sure if thats a good idea with chickens...the whole humidity and temp thing is different I think...Maybe someone else can shed some light ...
