My grandparents had two German Shepherds and they killed chickens. They had a collie that killed chickens and bit people. We had a collie that would go under cars to sneak up on people and bit them. He left chickens alone though. Our lab/aust shepherd cross left chickens alone but killed sheep. Our Norwegian elkhounds will chase any bird or anything that moves but they are great dogs with kids. I'm partial to the breed! But ours will chase cats, butterflies, birds or deer.

Everyone I knew that had dogs that were good with people and chickens or livestock had gotten them from someone who had kids and livestock where the pups were. So I'd look for a dog that was raised around chickens and kids.

Amen, we just put down our Great pyrenees.. She had gotten to old. Blind. No teeth, illnesses, ect.. Kind of looking for a replacement. dont know how to get anymore around here though because the last one we got from a friend (lost contact now). And their not that common around here, if you find them, their EXPENSIVE. im going to look around though, another pyrenees might be good

Alot of it depends on the dog itsevles, but what its bred for also plays apart.
I havet had the luck of finding a real good chicken dog, just dogs who like the taste of chicken.
I've lost chickens to: min pin, husky mix, german shepherd, rott mix, labs and lots of others.
Of course, my dogs are usualy rescues so they werent raised with chickens.
