question about chicken feed

my girls are 1 month and 8 days today. i have them on chick starter/grower. the TSC by my house only sells chick starter/grower. is that fine until they start laying? my grandma says it's fine cuz that's what she does. but i'm curious to what other people do.

That is perfectly fine until they start laying-then put them on layer pellets or crumbles.

Our local TSC only has layer formula displayed but they do keep grower/finisher and starter feed in the back. If you haven't asked already
