Question about chickens beak

We have a bantam rooster and the top of its beaks hangs over alot over the bottom part making it hard for it to eat. Will it hurt it if we clip off the tip of the top part that hangs over? It does eat and is healthy but I think it would make it easier for him. Just wanted to make sure before we did anything. I have seen posts on this before but didn't pay much attention at the time.
