Question about chicks in the incubator

Well, we have a total of 18 hatches ! I wasn't able to pull any chicks out until I saw there were no pips, but by then we already had eight chicks runinng around inside the bator, lol. We did lose one, it pipped and only had it's little beak out, and died. Don't know what happened there. So all is great, except for a mishap this morning, we have a chick that fell into the chick waterer, it was very shallow, but it was on it's back and very cold. I blow dried it on low heat, and it just kind of laid there for a while onit's side. It's back up now, but it's breathing a little hard, so I wonder if it didn't take in a little water. I'm worried about my little peep. It wasn't in there long, I came in to check them, and left to put a little chick starter in the feeder, when I came back it was on it's back in the waterer. First time this ever happens with chicks at our house. I hope I don't lose my chick, does anyone have experience with this? I posted in emergencies, but only got one reply. Thanks all, have a great day!

Just keep it warm and keep fingers crossed... had that happen when water wicked out into the brooder, some recovered, some did not... put some marbles or small pebbles in the waterer... they can reach the water between pebbles/marbles but not drown... and they really can drown in a very small pool... congrats on your successful hatch!!!

If you put marbles or rocks in the water dish it will prevent them from drowning. I bought a thing of rocks from the dollar store (craft/vase aisle). They are clean and smooth. I put them in the water for the first week or two and I don't worry about it. They stand on the rocks sometimes, but it doesn't hurt anything.

I've got lots of marbles, I think that's what I'll use. My little peep snapped out of it, I put it on a heating pad to warm up, and after about 45 minutes it was back to normal, so I put it back with it's playmates. Thank God we didn't lose it. With the tiny amount of water this waterer releases, I'm shocked it was so wet, it doesn't fill to the top of the bowl. Anyway, thanks to those of you who gave me advice, I appreciate it so much! Have a great weekend!

Glad to hear he's doing better.

HHHH!!! It's only day 19 you wriggly little chick!!!! Will it be ok? My first hatch with an incubator and I've got 1 early hatch and several pips already. I slipped a small teddy bear inside the incubator for my lonely first hatchling and it ran to it and snuggled right up like it was his momma. So cute.

I have to pop the incubator to turn some younger eggs is that ok? I've got it sectioned off to ovoid the hatchlings from messing with the younger eggs but idk. I recued these older eggs from a Brody that got killed by a opossum so I guess I may of miss gauged the hatch date. I had to put them in with my current eggs. The others go into lockdown Saturday so I pray everything is ok.
