Hello, I have 7 week old chicks that I recently switched over to poultry nipples. All the chicks but one have taken to them successfully. The one that is having trouble is an Easter Egger. She watches all the other chicks drink and has seen drops of water falling from it. I have also put her beak up to it several times and she drinks when I push the nipple for her but won't do it herself. I waited a whole day thinking she would finally do it but she won't. I put the old waterer back in the brooder for her but then all the chicks started drinking it again. I decided just to take here out and let her drink by herself but then she's all alone. Does any one have advice?

I let one find the nipple and drink, then took the old waterer out. They all got it.

It seems that chickens have this thing for water in a puddle. I can pour water on the ground under the nipples; and they all come a running. Not thirsty, just that there is water there.

Chickens.

Well, maybe I need to just keep making her try and don't let any of them see the old waterer, especially her. Thanks for your advice.

I have good news! In the last several hours we have had success. I kept putting our Easter Eggers beak up to the poultry nipple throughout the day and never brought the old waterer back. She finally put her beak up there her self. Hooray!
