Question about Coop training

Yesterday I moved 11 5-6 week olds out into their coop. I have read that it takes some help at first to get them into the coop at night. I like letting them into the run during the day, and they have all come down the ladder successfully. Today, we will be gone to the lake all day and I am worried about them getting enough water while we are gone. Right now their food and water is in the coop because I am trying to get them to realize that the coop is where they are secure at night. My question is this, if I put water in the run, and leave them there all day, will they get confused as to where they are supposed to go at night? What is the best/fastest way to get them coming in at night?

If not already done, then confine young birds to coop for at least three days before releasing for first time late in the evening. Then you will not have to resort to chasing them when roost time occurs near dusk.

I have was having a problem with my girls going back in at night. I kept them in for a week and yesterday was the first day I let them out. Went to "chase them in" last night and they were all in and most were on their roost ready for the night! I was so relieved!
