question about corner of coop sectioned off for chicks

i sectioned off a corner of my coop for my 17 chicks. i wont be bringing them home for about 3 more weeks. but my big flock are roosting on the top railing of the new section i made it 6ft long by 4ft wide. for17 chicks at 6 weeks probably too small. i also have a 12x12 outside pen i could put them in. would they be alright outside at 6 weeks old. i will have to build them a house to go in at night if i do the 12x12 outside pen. any info thanks.

I would worry about putting them straight in with your already established flock, I recommend a 30 day quartine on all my chicks. I would probably use the run and a temp coop for now.. But thats just me.. I would also worry about the droppings from you big girls possibly making it unhealthy for the babes as they won't have a way to get away from it...
