Question about cracked egg

I have bantam who has been sitting on her two eggs for 2 weeks now. When she gets up to go eat the other hens lay eggs in her nest. I think one of the other hens eggs bumped into her egg and made a small crack in side.

I candled it and its all dark with air pocket on bottom of egg. Will this crack hurt the chick inside? I was told I could melt some wax and seal the crack? Any information you could give me would be a great help.

If the crack doesn't go through the membrane there is a chance the egg will still hatch. Is there a way you can keep the other hens off of it?

I have never heard of the wax thing, so maybe someone else can help you out with that one.

I decided to melt a little bit of wax over the crack. So far so good I guess we will see if it hatches. They are due to hatch on Mother's day. I would like to move her & the eggs, but I have a few pullets in the rabbit hutch. But they are not ready to move in with the rest of the group just yet.
