I am getting stuck on the dewormer for my 3 chickens - I have never wormed them before and I think they need it, due to not laying and some other weird behaviors. I have a couple left over boxes of Equine Dewormer Ivermectin 1.87% (anthelmintic and boticide). Can I use a "pea size" amount of this dewormer with some other tasty treat for them? I hate to go out and buy a whole new box of equine dewormer when I have two perfectly new ones, but I also worry about killing them if I don't use Safegaurd. What is your recommendation?

If you have the 1250 pound tube, that's enough to do 1250 one pound birds, so I think a pea size amount could be way more than the recommended 200 micrograms per kilogram (2.2 pounds). FYI, the dose for most animals, horses included, is 200 micrograms/kg.

If they were my birds, I would use Fenbendazole 10% (Safegaurd or Panacur) liquid or paste 50mg/kg (0.50 ml/cc per 2.2 pounds) by mouth and repeat in ten days.
