question about distressed hen

my hens baby was just killed. she's understandably freaking out. my question is will she lay eggs again since she lost her baby

Did she only have the one Poult or are their more?

She will mourn for a while but she should try laying again. Unless she thinks it's too late in the year to hatch and raise Poults before Winter.
But as hot as it is around here at least I doubt Winter is on her mind other than wishing it were here.

its been a few hours and she's not calling for him anymore but she still gets angry when i go in the yard.

Leave her be, Three or four days and she will settle down.

We had three hens lay. Two of them had never been kept in a coop over night until we bought them. They tried to take their poults on walkabout on neighbouring land having spent hours coaxing them from the open coup. We took all of them to the third hen under mozzie netting to join her poults. The two squawked away for a few days but now walk past the poults showing no interest at all.
