Question, About duck nesting???

Hi Everybody!!! I posted a question a few weeks ago about my female Rouen laying & nesting, I have a couple more questions. Last Saturday I saw that she made a nest in the pen & it had 2 eggs in it, then she laid a couple more this week, I looked at the nest yesterday & found that 1 egg was cracked it looked like they ( I have 3 females & 1 male ) pecked at it but the other 3 look okay. She will cover the eggs with straw & the pine shavings that are in the pen but then sometime she uncovers them!!??? Now What??? I know she will start sitting on them all the time when she is done laying & hopefully go broody, I'm trying not to mess with the nest to much by looking to see how many eggs are in there but it's hard, I'm a very impatient & curious person!!!!! Are they fertile, when will she go broody, & when can I or should I candle them?????

Not all Hens go Broody. She will lay 12 or more eggs before she decides to set them. You can Candle them around day 10 from the time she begins to set the eggs.

Thanks, so I will have to wait a couple more weeks for her too lay more since she only has 3 eggs in her nest now. This is going to be a long few weeks!!!! Can't wait to see if I'm going to have babies!!!!
