Question about Egg Color - Possibly Maran?

A friend of mine said that she'd heard of a chicken that lays dark, cholocate-brown eggs. She said she thought it was Maran chickens, but she didn't know what sort. Looking through some pics on google tells me that she's probably right, it probably is marans, but it hasn't told me which sort. Anyone able to help us out with identification of the layer?
 
Dark eggs are most often seen in the Black Copper Marans, but the Cuckoo Marans have been worked on for their egg color as well. As for the Blue Copper, Blue or Black, I could not tell you.

I think she is interested in getting a few chocolate egg layers for her flock.
