hi, welcome to BYC. Is your coop big enough to install a poop tray below the roosts? Usually filled with a half-to-one-inch layer of sand, just a few inches below the roost, it would probably catch the egg and keep it from breaking. Good luck!

Before going to any major work, I'd do whatever is simplest or just deal with it as it's most likely temporary. I find eggs in the yard even. It takes some of them a couple of weeks to get it to click with them as to where they are supposed to be laying their eggs. Good luck!
