HI There,

I have found this feed that says it is appropriate feed for ducklings. I have also seen mention of using 'crumbles'. Is it better to start the new little guys on crumbles first and then move to something like after a couple of weeks? I have read about Angel WIng and would like to know what you seasoned duck folks would recommend from day one on through. I have five ducklings arriving the end of March and wish to prepare now for their arrival.

This feed should be fine for them for at least the first couple of weeks...I didn't see the protein % listed on their website, but it's usually around 21% in chick starter. Scratch & Peck recommends lowering the protein level at 4 weeks (https://www.scratchandpeck.com/shop/naturally-free-starter/); I feed my ducklings non-GMO fermented chick starter supplemented with brewer's yeast (for niacin) - when they reach 2 weeks old, I add rolled oats to lower the protein level to about 16%. Here's a thread on angel wing that you may find helpful: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/1137818/angel-wing.

Best wishes to you and your new ducklings.

Thank you for the information! I will go rad that now.

Cheers!
