Can i feed my adult chickens cracked corn?
Also, can i feed to two month old chicks or some 3 month olds?

We feed all our chickens 6 weeks and up cracked corn and they love it! I don't know if it's very nutritious for them but it doesn't hurt as a snack.

Hi,

We feed both cracked and whole corn pretty much free choice we have found that all the tiny birds cant eat the whole corn so we dont lose as much to the wild birds that way.

When corn is cracked, it begins to lose it`s nutritional value at an alarming rate. In 3 days time it has about as much nutrition as dirt. Good for a treat or a filler and even has a few calories left, but not a good feed at all. Seldom can cracked corn be bought that is not more than 3 days old already. Whole corn, on the other hand, retains it`s full nutritional value for a long time. It just doesn`t present a “balanced” diet.........Pop

So what if i got the whole corn and busted it up or mixed cracked corn with chick feed?

Hi, I have been feeding my adult chickens cracked corn for a long time now, along with bread and some other goodies. I havn't had any problems with their health. I am not sure when my feed mill prepares it but I believe it to be fairly fresh, hope so anyway. When my babies reach maturity it will be included in their diet as well.

Yes! You can feed!
I would not use it as a stand alone feed, but to supplement chick grower, flock raiser, or laying feed.
I do not believe corn losses it's nutritional value when it is cracked.

i'm heading to our co-op tomorrow, "feed run" i usually spend 5 minutes loading my truck and about a hour chatting it up with the guys, they guy' at the co-op have never steered me wrong, gesssshhhh i'm only 37 and lossing it because he told me i should be adding some thing to my feed soon......any ways i'll ask him what the diffrence is
