question about flower seeds..

ok..i bought a bunch of seeds tonight and i am wondering about this. a couple of them say to start indoors 6 weeks before last frost. does this mean that i cannot plant the seeds directly outside? because its already past that time period. that, and every time i start seeds indoors, they die or i forget about them.

I always plant my seeds outside once last frost is past.The indoor 6 weeks gives seeds time to grow before putting out,and that results in a longer growing season.If I plant certain veggies directly outside they won't have enough time to mature.Growing season length is the issue.

If your seeds are annuals, if planted outside, they may not have enough time to bloom before frost. That's why they suggest starting sooner. If they are perennials, they may not bloom the first year when planted outside, but they will get a really good start for blooming the following year. Of course, my experience is from Zone 4 & 5. I don't know about Oklahoma - except that it is Okay!
