We are building a 8x4 coop to house 9 hopefully hens and it will have a 12'x8' run attached. I have ordered 1/4" by 1/4" by 4' Hardware cloth from the local feed store. It is a 100' roll and if we put it vertically on our run (from top to bottom) we would have enough to cover all of the sides without buying any other poultry wire. I was thinking we could set our studs for the framing of the run 3' 10" apart and seaming it on the inside of the run (studs would be on the outside of the run wire on the inside of the studs.) We are also going to bury it 1' into the ground to keep out digging pests and place poultry wire over the top. For those of you more experienced with this does this plan for the fencing sound like it would work?

I have 1/4 in hardware cloth on my coop but only on the bottom half. On the other half I have wire fencing. We used that because DH gets it free from work. I used the hardware cloth on the bottom and buried it too to keep the rattlesnakes out. I think if you want to cover the whole thing with it that's fine!
