Red star mother are white leghorn.
Golden comet mothers are white rock.

I did not think the white leghorn carried the silver gene? But I could be wrong, I have been many times before..

;)IF it is permissible for me to "STEAL" this thread.....

I am curious about this genetics........because:

Last Fall, I was given 4 hens and a rooster all approx 6 months old. The rooster appeared to be a "cross" of Leghorn and something. He looks EXACTLY like the picture of a "Golden Buff" rooster in Meyer Hatcheries 2009 catalog.

The hens looked like "Buff Orpingtons", which I assumed they were; HOWEVER, they all look like the "Golden Buff" hens in the afore-mentioned catalog!

The rooster has yellow legs. The legs of the hens are a more pale (not yellow).

This 2009 Meyer's catalog has got me to wondering just what sort of chickens I do have. The hens are GREAT light-brown egg layers and the Rooster is very friendly and does a great flirting dance as well as fine "yodelling"........

I would TRY to post a couple of pix...but, I don't know how to do that on this Forum.....

I would much appreciate ANY informative comments. One of the hens has gone "broody" and is sitting on 6 eggs which MAY hatch the first week of June, 2009.
