I have decided to build a permanent hoop coop. It will be based off this design https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/permanent-hoop-coop-guide.47818/.

We live in the foothills of Reno and it is really windy, and pretty cold in the Winter, so we have decided to enclose the run, and elevate it two feet off the ground.
My question is about the tarp roof. One it’s not as as aesthetically pleasing as I would like, and i question it’s durability. What are other options you have used? I thought about a heavy duty water resistant canvas or possibly metal roofing.

Any and all ideas are welcomed!

You could use plastic or metal corrugated roofing panels.
The corrugations wouldn't work like they are supposed to shed rain,
but many have used them on hoops.

It can get very windy in the puget sound area around the fall, but probably not as windy as where you are. I have two separate tarps on now, and the brown one is great (got it from Wilco). It reverses to white. I have another brown one which will take the place of the blue one. I have also considered waterproofed canvas, but for right now the tarp has handled heavy winds extremely well. I also have it pulled extremely taught.
