I have not completed my order, but when I fill out an order online for Ideal Hatchery, they are only adding $8 for shipping???
Is that right, or will there be some hidden shipping charge once I put in my payment information???
thanks

How many are you ordering. I have had very good success with them. I recently ordered 5 birds. Of course they added 20 extra for warmth. My total was 16 dollars. I live in alabama.

I want Ameruacana. I only want 5, but their minimum order is $25.00, so that means I need to order 10.
It looks like it would come to $34.30.

I dont think 8 meets the $25 requirement. I was just wondering why shipping is only $8 and MPC is $35.95 shipping.
I have never odered baby chicks before.

Your $25 doesn't have to be from chicks alone, add a t-shirt if you are trying to keep a small flock. Also, their "Ameraucanas" are actually Easter Eggers. But their shipping charges are very reasonable, good luck.

I ordered 16 assorted Cochin pullets and my shipping charge was $2.40. I was also charged $7.00 for small order/box. I found it to be cheaper than most hatcheries. I did order from Townline Hatchery and their shipping was a flat $8.00, but I live in MI so I can see why it's cheaper.

This is Ideal's Shipping info:

I'm going to jump in on this because I'm curious. I ordered several Ameraucanas from them. You said they are actually Easter Eggers? What's the difference between Easter Eggers and them? It wasn't until recently I heard of Easter Egg layers. We had Ameracucanas growing up so when I saw them I ordered them.

The difference in the shipping charge (partly) is that most hatcheries will add extra chicks (most likely roosters) for warmth at no extra charge. MPC does not. If you order 5 chicks you get 5. But they will put in a heat pack to keep the chicks warm. That adds to the shipping charge. I've been willing to pay the extra because I just don't want 10 or 12 extra chicks that will probably turn out to be mostly roosters.
