Hello everyone i am lost and need help. This is my first time hatching eggs and using an incubator i have read the instructions but I'm still in the dark. I am on day 21 and they are still in the bator but i noticed when i got home from work that there are flies and a couple of maggots in the bator but they are on the walls not the eggs so i dont know what this means or what to do any advise would be much appreciated thanks

Good grief, how did flies get inside? If maggots are on the eggs, my feeling is that flies knew there was decaying matter inside the eggs. I would think your eggs went bad.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! First thing you need to do is get the flies and the maggots out of the incubator. What kind are you using? What kind of vents does it have. It's quite possible the flies could have got in through a vent and laid eggs in there. Are your eggs clean or do they have poop on them? Flies could easily become attracted to poopy eggs or a dirty incubator. Have you candled your eggs? Do they look on track? Do they smell ok? Poopy eggs could have already had fly eggs on them. Incubators are great for incubating eggs but also for incubating other critters and bacteria in there too, conditions are ideal.

Good luck and I hope you have some hatchers soon :fl
