I have an existing flock of 12 hens that are almost a year old. I have a nice coop and run area for them and they get to get out for a few hours in the late afternoon to free range. I have 9 new babies coming next month on April 11. I have a separate brooder that they will be raised in and I plan on introducing them after a couple months. Im wondering whats the best way to introduce the new girls into the coop? Will they naturally follow the other girls out of the coop and down the ladder into the run and back into the coop in the evening? Also, would they be okay to be let out into the run with the other girls? Just curious how fast they will pick things up

Introducing them to the coop specifically or introducing to the flock in general?

The way I train chicks to go to the coop is after they're already integrated with the adults out in the run, I lock up their brooder so they can't return to it, and start locking the chicks in a temporary cage inside the coop at dusk. After a few days they get the idea that the coop is where they ought to be at night and they'll go in without me needing to get them and cage them.

And 2 days later, this is how I found them at night:

newbies have somewhere to roost. My older girls love being up high so Im thinking they will let them be down lower. Thanks for your response
