Hey everyone!

I have a rabbit who is due to kindle on Sunday. I have a kindling box for her that my son so graciously built for me and I'm wondering what type of material I should put in it for her. I'm running out of time, which I realize, and would like to get this box in her hutch this morning for her.

Do I use hay, straw, bedding material or what?

Thanks in advance!

I always use a thin layer of shavings at the bottom, and straw on top.

Hay is not good because Momma will eat it all. She will pull fur for the babies, so you may need to take some out so they don't overheat (But only if it is warm... sadly, we don't have that problem!

The shavings I use so that when there is defecation in the box, the babies don't have to sit in it. *Oh, and it can't be cedar! It will kill mom and babies!*

Have fun!

Thank you both!

The bottom of the kindling box is hardware cloth so I won't have a problem with the kits messing up their box.

I guess I'm off to get some straw then! Thank you again!

Boy did I get off on the wrong floor! I thought, now why is she worrying about firewood right now?
