I sure hope you don't have snapping turtles. So I just got back from a farm with some ducklings for sale...picked up two muscovey babies and a Cayuga. It took 2 minutes for everyone to settle down, eat, swim, and now they're all cuddling in their sleep carrier. The new babies are about a week to two weeks old and the Cayuga is like a giant and clumsy and adorable as heck. I'm gonna take them all down to the penned in part of my lake shore and let them play in the reeds. It seems the new babies have never seen grass or deep water before.
This week alone we have read some awful horror stories about snapping turtles getting ducks so when you said that it sent shivers through me. Congrats on getting friends for your duckling, enjoy them and protect them. That's wonderful they took to each other so quickly. We do have snappers but I penned in a portion of the lake shore then sat on the shore watching them.
