Question about medicated feed

Do you mean medicated chick feed?
Yeah I ended up feeding to my rabbits that I plan on eating in two weeks.. sounds confusing I know but I heard from an experienced meat breeder that if you feed them medicated chick food with their regular pellets that it keeps away illnesses and I can attest to this because I had two sick rabbits that got better as soon as I fed them medicated feed. But that’s neither here nor there lol I’m just looking for an answer to my question. I know it’s usually for chicks and you don’t really eat chicks, just the adult chickens but I’m curious if anyone knows the answer.

Well all it really does is block a B vitamin from being utilized, so I'm not sure that you would have to worry about anything. But I don't know for sure. I never really thought about it

How long after feeding medicated feed is the animal safe to eat?
It depends on the animal and it depends on what the medicine is in the medicated feed.

An example. If the animal is a chicken and the medicine is Amprolium there is no withdrawal period. If the animal is beef and the medicine is Amprolium there is a withdrawal period. If the medicine is something other than Amprolium and the animal is a chicken there could easily be a withdrawal period.

Thank you! I will do more research on the type of medicine then 😊
