Question about molting?

Hey everyone, I’m not sure if this is the right thread to post this, but I have some questions about molting. I’m new to chickens and my first flock is about three months old now.

I know they won’t molt until next year, but I was curious how much of their original coloring they keep after they molt?

And evidently I ended up with a roo, (just recently started crowing SO cute, and hopefully we won’t have to give him up) and I noticed he has one feather that curls, much like on a drake. It’s so cute and one of his many endearing qualities and I was just wandering if it was a fluke, or if his next feathers that came in would also curl?

Anyway, I’d really appreciate anyone’s input on their experience with molting birds, I’ve attached pictures of Marigold’s (now affectionately called King Midas) funky feather.

Most drastic plumage change is after the second juvenile molt.
There can be some changes after their first adult molt at around 18 months old.

That funky feather is odd, wonder if there some frizzle in it's background.
Only time will tell if the nest molt shows more or less of the funkiness.
