I just bought a new Hova-Bator 1602N Incubator yesterday (no fan, no auto turner). I put it together thew way the paper said and put one thermometer on top of a piece of cardboard. The temp is too high (106-110*). I am wondering if the orange light is always supposed to be on? When I try to turn the temp down the orange light goes out and sometimes it comes on again.

UPDATE: I FINALLY got it to stay at 101*. That's good for still air, right?

Yes, that temp is good.

You just don't really want to go above that. I usually like to see mine hover around 100* because I am afraid it might climb too high while unattended when I am at work or at night while asleep. The light will come on when the temp has to be adjusted up; the opposite when adjusted down. If left alone, it will cycle on and off to maintain a set temperature. (well, sort of)For those of you who have used this bator very much, you know what I mean. I have 2 of these models, work just fine once you get the knack.
