My first chicks (7) arrived yesterday and we are excited to have them. I have read that 24 hour lighting stresses chickens. However, right now I have to keep the red heat lamp on 24 hours a day in their brooder in my garage/workshop and it looks like I am going to have to do this for the long term until they are ready to go into a coop. I live in northern PA and the nights are getting quite cool. How do I keep them warm but not stress them with 24 hour light?

With a red light, don't worry about it.
