Okay, I've been playing around with that genetics calculator. Lets just say it's not my strong point

, but I can learn. What does Ginger Red correlate to on this thing? How about Spangle? I see spangle on there but it looks like silver. If only it had a menu with all the common names. Oh and one more thing, what color is this hen? Thanks for any help!

She is a wheaten hen. If you want oegb genetics, you might think about ordering the book by F.P. Jeffrey and William Richardson, its called 'Old English Game Bantams as bred and shown in the united states'. It is a very informative book. Its like $16, you can get it from smiths poultry.

i don't know which calculator you are working with, but when you choose a spangle, and it's a silver spangle, you can select the S silver gene to s+/s+ instead of S/S to make it a golden spangled... i can also change the BL blue gene to BL/bl+ from bl+/bl+ to make it a blue... BL/BL for a splash... it's somewhat simple... i use the http://home.kpn.nl/h.meijers69/kruising.html one...

nice looking hen btw... looks like an angry broody...

With OEGB, the term "spangle" usually means mottle built on an e+ base--as compared with the spangle seen on hamburgs, which have completely different genetics.

When peopel refer to the chicken calculator, they usually mean Henk's.

Okay. Sonoran, you mean chose mottled for the OEGB? Got it. Gumbii, yes, that's the same calculator. I don't know of another one. And yes, she is an ANGRY broody! Can't touch her without gloves. She is sitting 3 Duckwing eggs and 6 standard golden phoenix eggs due in a week. She's a good broody.

Thanks, Sonoran! Yeah, she is very protective. Her little man is too. He sits on the side of her nest and tries to eat me up if I get too close when filling the food dish.
