Enough space?

Much happier!

It will be a room with the door shut because I have two large dogs. The octagons about 192 inches wide and 3 feet high.
They'll probably be able to escape quite soon if you aren't covering the top somehow. Not necessarily a problem, so long as everything in there is poop-proof and not going to hurt them somehow - just be careful when you open the door not to let any escape!

I'm sure they'll be really happy with the extra space. If you're planning to have them outdoors eventually, they're plenty old enough now to start learning about things like soil and grass. Just make sure they have grit available if you're giving them grass or any other plants - I like to preload them with some fairly gritty mash before their first taste of green stuff. A dust bath or a low piece of wood to perch on would be great for them too.

That's a good idea. I've got a redneck set-up going on in my garage, with scrap chicken wire and plastic fencing over the top of it. View attachment 4139386
Oh, I’ve been exactly where you are! I keep coturnix quail as beloved pets, and I tried just about everything with housing them, until I realized I had to think outside the box; But I love sharing my ideas for the sake of the birds, I’ve lost a few great birds to head bonk injuries.

That's sad. This set up is high enough for me and my husband to sit in, so they'd have to go pretty high to bock their heads. I hope to move them to the coop before that's an issue - and then get my car back in the garage!
