question about olive eggers

i have copper marans and americanas.....whats best to use to get the olive eggers.......copper rooster over americana hens...or aurucana rooster over copper maran hens?????

Its a matter of genetics of your birds. Do all your hens of each breed lay the same color as the others of that breed. If your hens of one breed lay different shades of egg then you do not want to use a rooster of that breed. He may not have a good egg color gene. But if you use those hens you can hatch the eggs that have the best color.

You should breed your Copper Maran Rooster over you Americana hen. Then raise up the pullets from that. Those pullet will lay the olive colored egg aka olive egger. I am doing this right now myself.

I can't wait to try this!! It's going to take FOREVER though! Bc I haven't even gotten the maran eggs into the 'bator, I'm still pretty geeked about it though!
