My newest babies (hatched mother's day) peck on the side of their brooder box. ALL the time! Do they still think they are inside of the shell? or are they just doing it to annoy us? The brooder box is next to our bed so all night long we hear PECK....PECK,PECK.....PECK.......PECKETY PECK PECK.

ETA: they have plenty of food and water, and temps ok. Lots of room to move about as well.

That is completely normal for chicks to do! Mine peck on the side of the brooder box all of the time. Chicks would not know how to annoy anyone, that isn't in their gene pool. They are just doing what comes naturally and pecking.

If it is getting on your nerves and annoying to you at night, I would recommend you find them another room to brood in. This won't go away and will only get louder as the chicks grow.
