question about scratch grains

I live in Oklahoma and our yard is still green but I don't see that many bugs anymore. I give my flock Purina Flock raiser. Do you think I need to give my flock scratch grains too or is my yard still good enough?

I'm no expert, but I heard that scratch is kinda like candy. They love it, but it's not exactly great for them. I'm sure that certian kinds are healthy though.
