question about showing birds

does anyone have any good tips for me in the showing department for ducks/bantam roosters? I have shown before but I would love some help so I can improve

Keep roosters away from hens in the months leading up to the show because hens may pluck feathers or he may damage his when mounting them. Stay away from wire-bottomed cages, roosters may damage and fray their wing tips. Bathe them 3-4 days before show to allow natural oils to replenish and wash feet the morning of.

Cage them a week prior to show. Some birds will be defiant of cage or disturbed by all the people passing by in the show. If you cage them early and put in say your mud room/ breezeway they will condition to cage and many people passing by them.

Otherwise you can have a beautiful bird that the judge will write on card "won't show". It just doesn't have the proud posture you see in your yard as it's not adapted to cage and many people yet.

the breeds of my showing ducks and chickens are : silkies, a mystery breed duck, a Pekin, and an Red pyle rooster. and any ways to help keep stress levels down on the way to fair/shows?

Transport them in a dark box or throw a blanket over them if they're in a cage. Mine usually sleep on the way to a show.

I'm not sure of the answer to that since white ducks are easier and don't usually require washing, but I think the best way is to wash them with whitening shampoo for dogs. I think I've used it on turkeys and Silkies before.
