ok so i have 9 silkies.. 7 white and 2 black.. my question is, are the black silkies supoposed to be smaller than the white ones?? the black ones are about half the size of the white ones.. they are all the same age and the blacks have always been much smaller than the white ones. they are about 12 weeks or so

I too have had the experience that the black silkies are smaller than the white. I am wondering if there is something different in the genes of the black ones.

I think there usually about the same size... But I guess there like humans... some are short and some are tall... I wouldnt worry about it:cd

My black silkie has always been smaller than my buff silkie. The buff developed the mulberry comb and wattles, so most likely a roo.

The black still has no wattles and no growing comb, just a flat black one.

My buff silkie also has feathers on the head and checks blocking its eyes a little and since shakes it's head around. I thought it was doing it to see but someone else posted to ask if the head shaking was a neuroligical problem.

Any head shaking from your silkies?

no head shaking yet... but they did start clucking today.. soon the one im sure is a roo will start crowing lol

My Black Silkies are only half the size of the white ones. They are about 9 weeks old...I was thinking the black ones might be girls because they are soooo much smaller. Now, I know that may not be the case. I'm glad I found this thread!
