Question about size - converting old dog house (kinda long)

If it's just for the winter...and it's just for sleeping (ie they get let out all day everyday).....and they had a roomy run, I would go for it. (For 4 anyway.

You could always find another doghouse and let the girls have 2 separate rooms.

Is the doghouse really more floor area than your Catawba coop????? If not, what's the point. (Unless it were free)

It sounds to me like you need a shed-type walk-in coop for what you want.

If you have to use the Catawba, or even this doghouse I suppose, for one more winter, the system you used last winter sounds fine to use again this winter. Temperatures below freezing are totally not a problem, as long as the air is dry and there are no drafts on the chickens.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat

You know Pat, the more I think about what I'd like for the girls, the more agree with you that what I (and they) would be most comfortable in is a walk-in shed-type of coop.

What I like about the hoop house we built yesterday is that I can walk in it and the girls have so much room. I'd like that for a winter coop as well.
