Question about switching feed

This may seem like a silly question. When switching chicken feed from one formula or brand to another, does it need to be done gradually (like cat/dog food)? I'm very familiar with dogs, cats, fuzzy critters, reptiles, and amphibians but not chickens. I am still learning before adopting my own! Thanks!

i change the brand of layer all the time i some times get the dumor from tsc and when i get a large amount of pig feed i get it from the local feed store and grab some layer while im there its just the brand of the feed store , but i go back an forth all the time an never had a problem
