Question about turning eggs

I took off with the family yesterday around 5pm on an overnight trip. When I got home this evening around 8pm, I noticed the turner stopped working. The temp had dropped too, but only one degree. I don't know how long the turner was not working, but now I'm hand turning. My question is basically, should the eggs be ok even though they potentially went unturned for several hours? Also, I found a replacment motor for the turner for 15 bucks. Is this a good price?

IMO... Your eggs should be ok. I sometimes I go 12 hours between turns (oops) and my hatches don't seem to suffer. The 1 degree temp drop was probably because there wasn't any added heat from the turner motor for a while, again, I doubt it's a huge deal since (hopefully) it was only for a few hours. You should be ok since you caught it soon enough. (I've never experienced any incubator or turner glitches/failures, so I'm basing my answer on the minor incubation fluctuations that I have dealt with over all of my incubating experiences).

$15 is a decent price on an egg turner motor, if it's new. I think most go for about twice that with shipping.

Nothing to worry about. I don't know if you can kill a guinea egg enless you cook it!

Just get the temp right and turn them 3 or so times per day. I don't know how long the were at a low temp but it could make them hatch a bit later.

Thanks for the replies. I candled them a few days ago and all were developing well except 2. One was a dud, and one just looked a little behind the others. I will candle again in a few days and hope everything looks normal. I cant wait to add some participants to the giunea races.
