question about vaulted skulls

hi guys....i'm new to silkies and i will be receiving some silkie/showgirl hatching eggs soon. i've read about the vaulted skulls and have learned that they have a hole in their skull from which their brain protrudes, but it's covered by skin and feathers. but i'm concerned if they get pecked in that area? is this something to be concerned about?

Yes it is something to be careful about. Even a small bump on the nead can result in a brain injury.

So should they not be put in with standards? I only have one with a vaulted skull all the rest are standard breeds.

It can happen but very unlikely. I've raised silkies for a few years now and never lost one to a peck on the head. As long as your not raising them with aggressive birds I personally wouldn't worry about it

i'm praying for all pullets! i'm not going to be able to keep them all anyway, but still, gotta pray for the pullets!
