Question about wiring thermostat and lamp kit together...

I'm trying to build an incubator out of a styrofoam cooler. So far, I've made a viewing window in the lid. Hah.

I have a bottle lamp kit and a water heater thermometer, but I don't know how to wire them together and I can't figure it out. The water heater thermometer didn't come with any wire, and the bottle lamp kit didn't either. The only wire in the bottle lamp kit is coming out of the plug and cord.

Am I missing something?

If someone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated!

Cut one wire on the water lamp connect the end toward the plug to screw number 1 on water heater thermostat and connect end toward lamp on screw number 2.
