Question about worms

So, I have dogs (and foster dogs). We just discovered yesterday that our foster has worms. I don't have my chicks yet, but should I be concerned that my backyard is "contaminated"? Can I treat the ground once I put the coop/run up? Is there anything I can do to make sure they don't end up with worms? Thanks!

Your dogs won’t get the same kinds of worms as your chickens and vice versa.
The best way to keep your dogs worm-free is to pick up poop and keep them treated. You’re giving them Heartgard (or something similar) anyway, right? :)

Glad to know they aren't the same! Yeah, I picked up after my dogs, but one of them is a poop eater and gets it before I do.....they are on heartworm meds as well. :)
