I have a chick that just hatched under my broody hen today, it started hatching yesterday, and didnt finish till tonight. It is peeping and moving around normally, but there is a huge piece of shell stuck to its back! It looks like a turtle. Should I just leave it alone?? do you think it will just fall off?? I tried to gently pull it of earlier, but it is like glued on.

That happened to my chick that hatch yesterday hes on my keyboard pecking at keys as we speak, and all I did was pick him up took a pair of tweezers and gently peeled it off, he has unabsorbed yolk so I had to peel it off slowly so I didnt dammage the yolkssdd

If words are messedr rrrr up on here thats pumkin pecking at theyyu keys

If you decide to remove it, try using warm water to soften the membrane -that is what's sticking to the down- it should slide right off once it gets wet. Make sure the chick is nice and dry and warm then put it back with mom.
