Question: Congestive Heart Failure in BB White Tom (approx. age 10 mo)

Well, I took Ataturk to a vet and the vet said he's ok, just to give him some antibiotics. Ended up just being a car ride for him. He was strutting the entire time in the back of my Tribute and in the vet's office. In fact, the veterinarian tried to give me another turkey--said he has a white hen that doesn't go with his Merriams. I wish I had more room.

I'm glad Ataturk is o.k. Yay! He was happy to be home, too.

The hollow sound in the tom's breast is also normal. The toms make a rumbling sound as they strut. This sound apparently attracts hens for mating. Glad he's OK. Our son had a BB white many years ago for a 4-H project. We kept the bird for nearly a year till his legs gave out. We butchered him, and he dressed out at 52 lbs. We BBQ'd him, and he was great. Not tough at all.
