I bought some BB Red OEG Hatching eggs...I am trying for a little roo (have 3 older OEG bantam hens and two standard hens).

They have a large fenced pen (40 x 40) with lots of grass. I had 11 hatching eggs shipped to me so I am not sure what the hatch rate will be, if I end up with 2 or 3 little roo's do they usually get along when raised together?

I am not a breeder, these won't be kept in breeding pens but all together as a flock.

Any advice on how the roos cohabitate?

I read oegb roos fight alot... It said to seperate all males at five months...

Yeah I know they have a history as fighting birds. I read that if raised together the little roosters can get along.

Hoping I don't have to re-home any if I can avoid it (course that means I am hoping this batch will produce some chicks! Don't want to count my chickens before they hatch just want to know what to expect).

I get it we raised two bantam roos together but when they met hens they almost fought to death... Just to keep in mind...

Thanks. I will be prepared to separate and rehome if necessary.

FYI not to disagree with anyone...but wanted to share other info.

I emailed the breeder, he said Bantam roos usually DO get along when raised together, standard Game roosters do not.

Mine will be raised with the flock since their birth (raised by OEG Bantam hens) so I am crossing my fingers.

I have been raising rare breed chickens and jungle fowl all together in the same enclosures and have no fighting with any of my roosters who all live with eachother and/or with the hens. Some call me the "Roostie whisperer" though - so I am assuming my experience with all my beloved roosters is not like other folks. But feel I simply just apply common sense, positive reinforcement and loving kindness to the situation. After the pecking order is sorted while I am there to help out the little guy- Things settle and I've just got no aggression toward me or eachother. The only time i've seen fights is when the boys want to mate the girls. IN this case give enough hiding spaces for the loser to scamper away with his dignity and tail feathers intact! But I have 4 roosties living in my Hen house and then two pens of roosties living with eachother which are for sale. These guys all get along with eachother. You know this by the condition of their tail feathers. Long and beautiful! So YES it can be done. Even with indonesian Jungle Fowl and red shouldered yokiamis- (those breeds got their start as fighting and exhibition birds so in their case- thousands of years of fighting might be in their "blood" but can be tamed away by proper handling. I am putting together a booklet which is a guide to proper roostie handling to help other folks- and the rooster for that matter! So much misinformation and inattentive early handling can make for naughty behavior.
