We have 10 cockerels that are from eggs we incubated and they are 16 weeks old now. They will go to freezer camp and was wondering if we can do anything different to help make them that much more tastier before we butcher. Any special feed?

They are no special breed, mother is 100% Isa Brown and father was a barn yard mix of RR and who knows what else? LOL

Thank you.

I let mine go about 6-8 months before butcher.

I feed Nutrena Naturewise 20% All Flock Pellets.

Things that help with a chickens flavor is a very good diet, & lots of movement.

These guy's will be getting butchered soon.

They turned 20 weeks recently.

@MysteryChicken ok thank you, I knew diet is a big part of it, just didn't know if there was anything else special that might help.

I feed a variety of small grains that are fermented with poultry vitamins and mineral added. What's your thoughts on throwing extra corn into their daily diet, might that help fatten them up and add flavor?
