Crowing
Had a complete flock massacre a while back, where I lost mostly heritage breeds, heritage crosses, silkies, and a few production reds and golden comets, leavingme with a single red, a single comet and a lone silkie. I recently picked up a few already laying Midnight Majesty Marans and Blue Azures to round out my egg supply and I couldn't help but notice that these breeds tend to poop A LOT! And not just little ones, massive piles! Not diarrhea, nothing that would scream "sick", just BIG piles! My production birds always ate more than the rest of my flock, and maybe they did crap more than the others but nothing like this. I have noticed they eat more than even my production birds, but they lay no bigger and no better than the comets or reds. The marans are by far worse than the azures, but they're both huge inefficient feed to crap machines!
Have those of you that have/had them noticed anything similar? Or is this a special gift from whichever Diety I PO'd recently for my own chicken raising pleasure?
Just to add - I've had them almost a month and they're still in quarantine so I know it's them. They've been dewormed and although one maran seems to have a case of water belly, the rest seem healthy and they're on the same feed as the previous owner had them on.
