I make this apron for as gift for people: http://jonag.typepad.com/stop_stari...hristmas-gift-from-mean-apron-in-an-hour.html. It looks great on thinner ladies, but not so much on us fuller figured gals. : ) I know that for those who are fuller figured, gathering the fabric would be a great option. My question is, how much fabric would you buy to do this then (not asking about the ties just the front of the apron)? The fabric in the original apron is just a fat quarter. I wear a size 16 and the way it lays on me just looks funny. I am making one for my DDs preschool teacher for Christmas. She is probably a 14 or a 16. Any advice would be appreciated!!!

I would think that a half yard would be a better bet for size. That is twice as much fabric as originally called for. It may not allow a lot of gathering though. Your other other option would start with a yard and cut in down the fold. You will have 2 pieces 36" X 22" That would give you more fabric to gather.

Thanks!!!
