Question for those who use hot wire/electric fencing for protection.

Can you make an electric fence out of chicken wire or field fence?

It's "possible" but not practical since you'd need so many insulators​

fiberglass posts will reduce the need for many insulators and they don't corrode. But they don't ground either. You can use chicken wire, but the galvanization increases the resistance. Large fence charger will over come that. The problem with using chicken wire is the ground. It cant touch the ground or it will short out the fence.

You can use the chicken wire on wood frame i made one with field fence for my pigmy goats and it worked good
