Question: Ice...Is it good for your chickens ???

Out of curiosity, I threw an ice cube in the run yesterday and the roo went straight to it and started making his noises and the hens came a running and then walked away... but he would wait for the ice to melt and start drinking it off the grass, and then wait and come back in a little while and start the process all over again... Should I start leaving a bowl of ice water out for him every evening???

when its hot I put ice in my chickens/dogs/cats/bird water

Most of us freeze treats to help keep them cool in the summer. Keeping them cool in the summer is more important than keeping them warm in the winter.

I put ice in their waterer during hot days. They don't eat the icecubes but seem to like how cool it makes their water!

My roo actually pecks it to pieces and eats the chunks...funny as all get up to watch...lol
